Final Thoughts:
On the first pour of this single barrel pick from Justins’ House of Bourbon, the nose was dominated by orange sherbet and circus peanuts, which overpowered some of the underlying notes. Once I let the whiskey breath for a few days, those flavors were toned down considerably, which allowed the cherry and tobacco notes to come through on the nose. The palate brought pink Starbursts and vanilla before transitioning into a spicy finish that reminded me of Dr. Pepper. This whiskey is certainly packed with a ton of spice and flavor that allows you to find something new each time you go back to it, which is exactly what I’m looking for in a cask strength single barrel!
