Final Thoughts:

The Penelope Barrel Strength has an interesting mix of flavors, most likely due to the use of four grains in the mashbill. On the nose, there are sweet baked goods aromas reminiscent of snickerdoodle cookies, caramel covered yeast rolls, and citrus. However, once it hits your palate, you begin to experience spicier notes like white pepper, which carries into cayenne pepper on the finish. This whiskey takes you on a journey from sweet to spicy all in a single glass, which makes for a nice balance of flavors. This is one that I’ve been thoroughly enjoying, and continue to identify new notes whenever I go back for more.
