When @beyonce releases a whisky, there is always gonna be a lot of talk around it. @sirdavis was created with @moethennessy has a 51% rye 49% barley mash bill sourced from MGP and was finished in PX Sherry casks at 88 proof. The nose brings earthy notes of toffee and straw while the palate turns to raspberry cream and cantaloupe with a kiwi and allspice finish. Personally, I was hesitant based on the nose but I found the fruit notes on the palate and finish to be very enjoyable. “Celebrity whisky” can definitely be hit or miss but I think this one will be a crowd pleaser. Whiskey Wednesday is in full swing with these @holladay1856 distillery only releases. The toasted Cave Collection features the 1856 mashbill all aged for 7 yr and 5 months but finished in 3 different barrels, a sweet, a spice, and a smoke all at 100 proof. In order of my favorites, the smoke brings notes of toffee, cherry pop tarts, and tobacco. The sweet brings pound cake, strawberry fruit leather, and toasted marshmallows. Lastly, the spice brings crème brûlée, gingerbread cookies, and cinnamon coffee cake. The difference between all three is subtle but the finish is nicely balanced with the whiskey. Popping another new American Single Malt release with this Quintessential @cedarridgeiowa Untitled Cigar Malt Project. 100% malted barley aged in ex-bourbon barrels and finished in American style Madeira, Amontillado Sherry, French Oak, New American Oak, Peated Malt finished in Ruby Port at 114.9 proof this is definitely a complex blend. Stewed raisins, dark caramel, and stroopwafels on the nose followed by prune, cloves, and fig newton bars on the palate with a leather, dried cherry, and grape lollipop finish.
