Final Thoughts:

Sagamore Spirits Cask Strength is a great example of a rye whiskey that embraces the spicy aspects that rye grain can bring to the finished product. Many rye whiskies on the market today tend to have strong green apple notes with just a touch of spice (not that I don’t enjoy those too), but it is nice to see a whiskey that goes all in with the rye flavor punch. On the nose there are some nice banana bread notes, which turns into spicy pepper honey and marshmallow on the palate. The finish yields slightly on the spicy notes, allowing clove and cinnamon sugar to pop through. This is a great rye whiskey with a punch you won’t forget.
