Final Thoughts:

As someone who enjoys Scotch, I am always interested in trying different American single malts to see the impact of maturation in the US as compared to Scotland. Westland Whiskey is unlike any other single malt that I have tried, with bright sweet aromas jumping out of the glass. The nose has a rich fruit sweetness to it, which is balanced nicely by the slightly smokey flavor on the palate. To be clear, the smokey aspect is not the same as what you would find in a peated scotch (think burnt almonds and campfire smoke). The whiskey finishes with strong notes of melon that leaves you wanting another sip! Westland has created a wonderful single malt that allows you to pick up different tasting notes each time you go back to it, and at this price point, it is worth picking up a bottle to try for yourself.
