Final Thoughts:

Within the Stellum single barrel program, there are groups of store picks based on when they were chosen, and the source of the barrels. This single barrel pick from Lazy Day Liquors in South Carolina is barrel K3 from the Serpens group, which are 95% rye / 5% malted barley selected in spring 2021. As a rye whiskey sourced from MGP in Indiana, most whiskey enthusiasts have an expectation of what to expect given their prevalence in the market. This pick seems to check all of the boxes that a rye whiskey fan is looking for with a punch of green apple and sweet mint with an undertone of sweet floral honey from start to finish. Did I mention the Honey Nut Cheerios on the finish?? Overall, this is a winner in my book. A cask strength rye whiskey, fairly priced, with a mix of sweet, spicy, fruit, and floral notes. Once again, Lazy Day Liquors picked another great barrel.
