Final Thoughts:

Glendronach 12 year is the flagship offering of Glendronach Distillery. The single malt whiskey is aged for 12 years in both PX sherry casks and Olorosso sherry casks before being blended into the final product at 86 proof. Given the full maturation in sherry casks, there is an undeniable impact on the final product, while also allowing the malted barley to shine through. The Glendronach 12 is defined by an intense prune/raisin note from the nose to the finish, along with a rich and creamy palate. Additionally, there were distinct aromas of starfruit, ginger, pastry dough, and raspberry danish throughout that further increase the complexity of the whiskey. Overall, this is an amazing sherry matured whiskey that would be enjoyed by most single malt enthusiast. The overriding note is a sweet red fruit, however, there are numerous other notes that will keep you coming back for more.
