Final Thoughts:

The latest addition to the Bardstown Bourbon Company collaborations is their Chateau de Laubade II release. A blend of sourced Kentucky and Tennessee straight bourbons are finished in Chateau de Laubade armagnac casks for a minimum of 16 months. The resulting whisky carries a 10 year age statement at 107 proof. As you would expect from an armagnac finished whiskey, big fruit and wood flavors are prevalent from the nose to the finish. Strawberry preserves, toasted brioche bread, and orange creamsicles dominate the flavor profile, with additional notes of peanuts, burnt sugar, and leather. Overall, while this whiskey is good on it's own, it is hard not to make comparisons to the original Chateau de Laubade release from the past. The previous release used solely Indiana bourbon, which brought a richer and more intense flavor profile in comparison to the Tennessee whiskey used in this whiskey.
