Final Thoughts:
The latest single barrel pick from Lazy Day Liquors is a 9 year old Knob Creek bourbon at the standard 120 proof. The nose carries some of the more traditional notes found in the Jim Beam lineup like roasted peanuts and caramel popcorn, but there is also a nice fruity undertone that reminds me of fresh strawberry jam. These flavors continue onto the palate along with a more pronounced citrus note and a distinct cherry pie coming from the fruit and doughy quality of the bourbon. Red Starbursts and a lingering hint of nutmeg finish off this pour, leaving me wanting another sip. Overall, this is a solid whiskey at a very fair price point. The bourbon is rich, has a strong oak backbone, and does not drink as hot as the proof would suggest. No fancy stickers or clever names on this one, just good whiskey!
