Final Thoughts:
George Dickel’s 15 year single barrel is the latest addition to their core lineup, making this their highest age stated product. As is expected with most George Dickel products, intense orange and circus peanut dominate the nose and palate. These are nicely complimented by other sweet oak forward notes like snickerdoodle, which are driven by the extended aging time. On the finish, a surprising burst of red fruits comes through, including cherries and raspberry. Given the divisiveness surrounding Dickel, let’s be clear that this whiskey fits right into the flavor profile that you would expect. For those who are generally not fans, this probably isn’t for you. However, if you do enjoy the rest of the core range, particularly the bottled-in-bond, then the 15 year single barrel is must try. The whiskey is intense, rich, and flavorful from start to finish without being dominated by an overwhelming proof point. I thoroughly enjoy this bottle that I picked up, and am excited to find some store picks in the future.
