Final Thoughts:
Before I even opened this bottle, the hype was real! Everyone talks about how great the exported Blanton’s are, particularly Gold and SFTB, and I could not have been more excited to try this one. Bright red fruit and chocolate notes are very present on the nose and palate, leading into a drying leather note on the finish. While I do think this is a quality bourbon, I also don’t think it lived up to the expectations I had in my head based on other reviews that I’ve seen. The mouth-feel was a bit thin, and the flavors didn’t pop as much as I would prefer for a bottle that costs this much. As with all single barrels, it could just be this one, or it could just be the problem with chasing highly allocated products.
