Apple Cider Old Fashioned
Cozy up by the fire with this fall cocktail.
Ingredients:
4 ounces bourbon (enough for 2 drinks or one thirsty person)
2 ounces apple cider
1/2 ounce maple syrup
3 dashes of bitters (I used a mixture of regular and orange Angostura bitters)
1 orange peel to garnish
Ice
Let’s not complicate this anymore than we need to… combine the bourbon, apple cider, maple syrup, and bitters in your glass of choice, and add a nice ice sphere. For this drink, I went with Sagamore Spirit Cask Strength Rye Whiskey to deliver a punch of spice that cuts through the sweetness of the apple cider. Any high-proof whiskey will work, but I find that a quality rye takes this to the next level. I also combined both regular and orange Angostura bitters to bring some of the traditional orange notes found in a standard old fashioned. If you are feeling fancy, grab yourself an orange, and cut one peel to garnish the cocktail to make this more instagram worthy.
