Final Thoughts:

This Senator single barrel pick from Greens Farms Spirits in Westport, CT is sourced from MGP through Proof and Wood Ventures, coming in at 104.08 proof. When these bottles first started appearing on shelves in early 2020 (or should I say appearing behind glass display cabinets), they certainly garnered a lot of attention in the whiskey community. The bottles do look great (especially when dipped in gold wax), but the real question is whether or not whiskey lives up to the label. Up front, there is a distinct toasted oak component that I normally only find on double barreled products. The sweet oak notes compliment the bright cherry and tart pomegranate aromas on the nose, which in my opinion is the best part of the whiskey. The palate and finish bring forth much sweeter flavors reminiscent of fresh cannolis and vanilla custard before rounding out with a dash of nutmeg. From start to finish, this whiskey combines sweet dessert-like notes with bright fruit notes that pair well together. The whiskey is creamy, rich, and balanced, which makes it a winner in my books!
