Final Thoughts:

The Beverly High Rye represents a collaboration between Beverly Spirits and Cedar Ridge Distillery in Iowa. This whiskey itself is a blend of straight rye and straight bourbon sourced from both Cedar Ridge and MGP, coming in at 96 proof. While the label is green (typically for a rye), and it is called a high rye, this one certainly drinks much more like a bourbon. Strong red fruit notes dominate the whiskey from start to finish with hits of Starbursts, strawberry gummy bears, and stewed cherries. The high rye component brings forth notes of nutmeg and ginger that help bring a balance between sweet from the bourbon and spicy. Overall, this is a great start to the collaboration between these two companies. The whiskey doesn’t show any signs of youth on the nose or palate, and there are some nice oak influences that create the burnt sugar and coconut components which I enjoy. I am excited to see what else these two create in the future!
