Nose:

Sugarcane, pineapple, tropical fruit, honeysuckle, apple Cheerios, bubble gum, caraway seeds, mango, and subtle lavender

Palate:

Ginger beer, green apple, orange, grapefruit, caramelized plantains, vanilla bean, and a strong spice from the rye grain

Final Thoughts:

As a novice rum drinker, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with a rum barrel finished rye whiskey, however, I couldn’t have been more surprised with how delicious this was! The rum hits you right upfront, and carries through from the nose to the finish. Wonderful tropical fruit notes are present throughout, but the base rye spirit isn’t lost in the final product. The spice and green apple notes typically found in a rye whiskey are very present as well, and combine with the rum to create a flavor reminiscent of a ginger beer and rum cocktail. This new Ry3 Whiskey is a wonderfully crafted spirit, that balances a great rye whiskey with an almost dessert like rum finish!
