Final Thoughts:

Jack Daniel’s Distillery needs no introduction, however, an oftentimes overlooked offering is their single barrel whiskey at barrel proof. This specific single barrel was picked by Greens Farms Spirit Shop in Westport, CT, coming in at 128.7 proof. Going into this whiskey, I expected to be hit with a heavy dose of banana, consistent with many Jack Daniel’s offerings. To my surprise, that was not the case at all. Robust aromas of dark sugar, tres leches cake, pralines, and marshmallow stood out on the nose, followed by oak, pineapple upside down cake, and even a bit of blue cotton candy (sounds weird, but tastes great). Overall this was certainly one of the best Jack Daniel’s bottles that I have tried. The whiskey felt very balanced for 125+ proof, and had a wonderful depth of flavor and oak that allowed me to spot different notes on each sip. Don’t sleep on Jack Daniel’s if it has been awhile since you last tried one of their single barrel picks!
