Final Thoughts:

Series #7 from the Bardstown Bourbon Company is finally here for both their Fusion and Discovery lines. The Fusion is a blend of 3 year BBC bourbon and 12 year Kentucky bourbon, while the Discovery is a blend of 7 year Indiana bourbon, 12 year Kentucky bourbon, 12 year Canadian corn whiskey, and 17 year Tennessee whiskey. Needless to say, there was a lot of time and thought that went into creating both of these complex blends. Fusion bourbon, while obviously the lower-tier offering from BBC, is a very approachable whiskey. It is creamy and fruit-forward with hints of spice. At sub-100 proof, it won’t burn out your palate. On the other hand, Discovery is a much bolder in your face kind of bourbon. It has intense dark fruit notes on the nose, a punch of baking spice and cherry on the palate, and is rounded out with a mouth coating leather and dark caramel. Both of these whiskies can certainly stand on their own, but for the series #7 comparison, the discovery series brings a lot more oak and depth of flavor that leaves me wanting another glass!
