Nose:

Red candied apple, toffee, peanut brittle, vanilla bean, maple cream, and black tea.

Palate: 

Plum, honey, Wether’s caramel, butterscotch pudding, allspice, nutmeg, and oak.

Finish:

Apple fritter, black tea, raspberry, and green oak.

Final Thoughts:

ASW’s Fiddler - Georgia Heartwood bourbon certainly has all of the things I look for in a whiskey… cask strength, single barrel, and non-chill filtered. This release is finished with Georgia oak staves to add an extra layer of oak and complexity to the final product. The end result is a whiskey full of sweet notes from candied apple to honey, combined with the allspice and nutmeg coming off of the extra oak staves. While there are some youthful notes that present themselves as black tea and nuttiness, this wheated bourbon has a lot to offer, and will definitely be one I reach for going forward.
